How to pass theory tests driving license class 3/3A in Singapore

I'd like to share some tips on how to pass theory tests in this blog.

Most people say theory tests are easy. The face is, it really is as long as you read book and complete mock test.

1. which language shall I choose for theory tests.

This is the question that reception will ask you when you register for test. For foreign students, if you could manage your university or poly or JC exams, you can choose English without a doubt, because the translation may not be as accurate as English suggested by reception.

2. Do I need to buy extra books or pay for extra apps from third parties.

No. Some tutorials might suggest you buy those extra traffic books in popular which is very unnecessary. School will give you 1 basic theory book and 1 advance theory book. All test questions will come from these 2 books.

My genius cousin (who renewed PDL 4 times as mentioned) showed me an app he bought in app store which contains a lot of theory mock tests. After I tried school mock, I found these kind of stuff are really unnecessary. Do what you should do. Do not waste time and $$.

3. can I pass the test if I don't have time to read the book.

Yes you can as long as you remember all the mock questions and answers. 95% test questions are from mock test. Even you failed 5% questions, you will still pass the exam. Actually, theory tests may be considered as common sense, yet there are some tricky questions.

4. What will be covered in BTT (Basic Theory Test)?

BTT will focus more on the traffic signs, signals, traffic rules, regulations and code of conduct on the road etc. 50 MCQ and 45 min. Score 45/50 will get passed. Sample mock questions will be given in the end.

5. How many mock tests can I book?

6 free mock tests in CDC. There are 10 different papers in the system. Try to practice every paper at least twice. You may try as many times as possible with 45 minutes. Just log in again and again. It's ok to fail all the papers at the first time, just get all passed eventually. Remember to book your preferred mock date at least 2 weeks in advance otherwise it might be too late. One ridiculous thing is CDC system can only lock 4 mock test dates for each student which means you must clear 2 test date before booking the rest. Hence, you may need to manage it well. Let the last mock test date just before the final test date in order to get a fresh memory.

If you missed the mock test date, it doesn't matter. You may go in and try your luck see if instructor would like to help you log in by instructor account, then you may get another chance to do 1 paper.

6. What's the theory tests passing rate?

Actually, theory tests are generally easy, a lot of seniors will tell you easy, yet there are still students who fail. In CDC, the school students passing rate is 86.3% according to statistics in 2015-2016. If you play RPG you will know, the weapons will be upgraded almost 100% successfully if the rate shows 86%. If you still fail, then go to face the wall.

One important thing is do NOT be late. Instructors do not like late comers. If you couldn't wake up early in the morning, then get an afternoon test date. In general, learners will finish 1 paper within 30 min. Some genius learners can complete within 10 min.

7. Is there any reward for 100 score?

I also wanna know. As a fake curve wrecker, I also got full score for both tests, but nothing special.
